Day 2. Rest.

Happy New Years!  I know it's resolution time.  I refuse to make my resolution weight or fitness related.  That's why I started my 5k plan before 2010.

My resolution is to be consistent.  Keep towards my goals and be a better person.

I will be running again tomorrow.  For today rest.  I am definitely sore!  I took a tylenol yesterday for the muscle aches.  I'm weak!

I read that drinking cold chocolate milk after a run is good for helping avoid muscle soreness (within 30 minutes).

I bought some to keep on hand for my future runs!

First success!

I finally made it to my closest gym.

There were three other ladies in the small gym. Thin, and looking
fit. I feel intimidated. I get on the only available treadmill and
start my warmup.

I start up also my two apps I need for my plan.

1) Nike plus (with iPod playlist)
2) c25k.

After about three minutes of warm up and app fiddling all things are
good to go.

The day 1 week 1 workout consists of 31 minutes. It has 9 - 1 minute
runs. It alternates with walking in between the 9 running sets.

I added about 5 min extra of warm up at the start and end.

I love walking, therefore let's just discuss the running.

1st run minute. Death. Piercing pain in my side and air burn in the
lungs. I did that tooooo fast too soon.

Each run from there was progressively better. I was a little scared
to get going as I don't have a lot of experience running.

The final run. I has started losing track as to what run I was on as
I stopped checking the app timer. A great song came on right as the
next chime for another run rang. I upped the speed to the highest
speed I had done so far and added a bit more. I soared in that
moment. I felt free as a bird. I couldn't even sense that I was
breathless or tired or anything. I was happy.

I was dissappointed when the minute was over. I cooled down and did
some stretches. I checked my times and calibrated my Nike plus. I
could definitely feel that my muscles were tired. Although I felt I
could do more I was glad I didn't do too much so I can do it again
tomorrow.

Blurry. Proof.

Finally. Starting

Ok. It is time to set laziness aside and time to get going.

This is my first scheduled day. It's a light run but I hope it goes
well!

Time to get ready. I'll report back after.

The shoes to execute the plan.

The Plan

The plan.
First post. Second, the goal.

I want to run a 5k at the end of April 2010.

First step, start running.  Actually start anything.  I'm in a winter rut and I need to move forward.  I've downloaded the c25k app (couch to 5K) and signed up for pilates reformer classes (cross train).  I honestly feel that I've got to do it, can do it, will do it! 
